The festival began in the early years of the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty. By the time of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it became one of the Chinese traditional festivals as important as China Spring Festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival, as known as Moon Festival, Autumn Festival, August Festival or Reunion Festival. There are three period times in China autumn, early autumn (lunar July), middle autumn (lunar August) and late autumn (lunar Sep.). It is the 15th day of Aug, which is in the middle of autumn, so it is called the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The festival has a long history. Moon cake, moon worship and moon admiration are the main habitudes. When the moon is rising up, mooncakes, pomegranates, dates and other fruits are served on the outdoor table for moon worship. After this, all the families sit together around the table, eating mooncake and chatting.
